Palm Skin Prod., Milton Jackson, Luciano, Soultourist
I guess I haven’t been spending quite as much time exploring for new tracks, aside from these guys and a few others. Most of my time over the past few weeks was devoted entirely to my portfolio, with lots of deep house and ambient. At any rate, some excellent new releases came out, and during a break one day I found them on Beatport. Also, the awesome image above is from Changethethought, loving the color scheme, choice of typeface and use of shapes.

I’ve hailed Palm Skin Productions‘ Big Bear EP as my deep house pick of the year, but even with that decision made, I am also really feeling this new track off Done EP. It’s got a futuristic sort of vibe to it, with such airy stabs it sounds wind-powered…here’s to green energy in the form of deep house. I feel like this track would make a good detox from listening to a lot of the noise pollution out there today.

I’ve posted Milton Jackson a few times, but his name is on so many tracks out there in the limelight nowadays. Fortunately, some of these new tracks are very very good. Like this one, off Revolutions EP, out on Dark Energy Recordings. I like how the song starts off, light and hi, and then the deep kicks in and before you know it you’re engulfed in dubby bass. I like the reserved, sparing vocals, that add just that hint of sexiness.
Luciano – Los Niños de Fuera

Luciano has achieved practical Don status at the helm of Cadenza, but also as a DJ, producer, and overall purveyor of style. While not quite indie, I’d say the movement that Luciano is a part of is a worldly, and profoundly anti-pop, yet it has the listener base to act as a counter-point to the likes of Tiësto and a lot of the big names in House and Trance. The worldbeat, latin-flavored deep techno on Tribute to the Sun is unique and definitely worth exploring.
6th Borough Project – Miss World (Soultourist Remix)

Finally, I heard this Soultourist remix of the 6th Borough Project on the Freerange podcast a while back, it stood out from a bunch of tracks which recently I haven’t been all that into. I am pretty sure that what attracts me to this remix is the hints I hear sampled from M.F.S.B. – Secrets of the World, a absolutely classic tune. This is deep disco house, and it’s a lot of fun to bounce along to.
