Duck Sauce, Fake Blood, Hot Natured, Braxe/Falke
It’s tough to comprehend how vast an ocean music really is nowadays. You could be talking to someone who is into all the same kinds of music you are, but still be worlds apart in terms of the actual musicians you listen to. Here are some funky disco house tracks from around the spectrum.

Duck Sauce is A-Trak and Armand van Helden, a combination of mainstream success backed up clearly in this track, by a genuine expertise in editing and mixing up this track, aNYway. The video is pulled off with a similar level of smile-enducing style and authenticity…check it out at the bottom of this post.

I’m remarkably picky about tracks that come from a genre I’m not naturally attracted to. It’s not that I don’t like electro house per-se, it’s just that most of it doesn’t interest me. This track, however, is pretty fun to listen to, it also plays well with the Duck Sauce track above.
Hot Natured – Turning Tricks

is Lee Foss and Jamie Jones, who bring the freshness with this track Turning Tricks. A bit later in time in terms of nostalgia, feeling markedly more early 80s, a closer listen reveals some pretty forward thinking production, I am really loving the kick sequence when the lyrics “Nasty Freak” drop.
Kelis – Bossy (Alan Braxe and Fred Falke Remix)

I’m sort of bringing a blast from the past here, but I just grabbed a legit copy of this remix and did for ‘ Bossy in 2006. It has to be one of the best remixes of mainstream commercial pop I’ve ever heard. It maintains this bourgeois attitude, a playful caricature of unchecked egos, while the musical framing Braxe and Falke give this track make it sound more like Billboard’s #1 pop single from the future where we’re all in flying cars. Few other tracks have gone there and lived to tell about it, but this is one of them.
