Mountain People, Imaani Brown, Soul Clap, Deniz Kurtel
I do realize that I’ve been posting a whole lot of house music recently, hope people are feelin’ the vibes, but for those who are wishing for more variety, I will make a point to deliver soon…maybe…there’s a lot of good stuff to be heard, but at the same time, I know that there are oceans to be further explored and treasures to be discovered.

are Swiss duo Serafin and Rozzo, their label is called Mountain People, and most of their tracks have the word mountain in the title…as their Last.fm description alludes, that’s a lot of mountains. I feel like climbing a mountain when I hear a hot cut like this. The core of this track, which is present from the moment you press play, is my favorite part. These guys are playing tonight in New York, and I plan to attend.

This guy from Germany has been sharing some of his deep house tracks with me on recently. This unsigned producer must be working remarkably hard, because he continues to share a few tracks each week, and each sounds better and better as time continues. This is one of my favorites of his new material, which is privately shared to listeners on Soundcloud (I assume who are fans of relevant groups, like deep house groups). I do believe that in time we will see one of these labels picking him up, he shows a lot of potential.

A while back when I recorded my 5ifth Element mix, I included an edit of Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams by Mingus Rude. Well if you liked that, consider this one from Boston duo . I am feeling this take, which is a little less abrupt and breaksy, flowing more smoothly and almost psychedelically at points, likely a bit more appealing for fans of the original. This is the kind of stuff I am going to be looking for to play during my new weekly DJing at Mission Grill here in Philly (more info to come as the night continues to take shape).

Here’s a track from my buddy Ryan, the man behind Playswellwith, turned me on to, saying it was his favorite track as of late. I sat there listening cynically, for some reason the core beats that this track opened with, in similar fashion the Mountain People track above, just didn’t appeal to me. However, with the foresight to continue listening, I’ve discovered that once the song kicks in, there are some incredibly synths and supporting basslines, that paint a picture of fall as thick as oil paint. Highly recommend you either let this play out or skip to like 1/3rd of the way in, but make sure you give this track a chance, you might just be rewarded.

I’m lovin’ these tracks. It’s so weird because just a couple of days ago I was thinking about how certain songs make me think of a certain temperature. It came up because I was listening to some Depeche Mode songs and they reminded me of a summer night… very quiet and warm.
Anyway, great post and great music.
