This Sunday, one of the most exciting shows of the year is going to come right at the end of it, with the at Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan.  Tycho and Casino Versus Japan, two of my favorite musicians right now, are both set to make their NYC debut.  Fans of any of these musicians are likely sure to know already, but just in case you’ve somehow missed it until now, here are some tunes from the lineup for Sunday.

You might notice that I link ISO50 blog often around Blog.H34, but I rarely mention San Fransisco-based Scott Hansen’s musical side, .  I think one of the reasons Tycho is a favorite of mine is because he has successfully bonded a visual side to his audio releases.  Even though I don’t (yet) own a set of tables, I ordered the physical release because it is just beautiful to look at.  There isn’t much more that can be said about this awesome track that hasn’t already been said, it’s beautiful.  This is the last taste before Scott recedes into the confines of his recording studio to deliver his full length on Ghostly International, but I am very excited to see his live performance.

Ravi Shankar – The Sound of India (Shigeto’s Sun and Hash Edit)

has been hard at work, so fans of his have a whole lot to look forward to in the future.  However, for those looking to hear some of that future right now: be sure to arrive at 10pm when he opens the night.  Shigeto’s visceral live performance is not to be missed, I have been working with my close friend and occasional design collaborator, Moodgadget co-founder Adam E. Hunt, on some live visuals for Shigeto’s performance.  With the energy and excitement Zach has conveyed to me over the way things are taking shape, this is sure to be one of his best sets to date.

might not be a name you’ve heard in a while, but if you are a fan of IDM, you no doubt have heard his music, and are excited for his next release.  Although I wrote recently about the dangers that face musical genres like dubstep, and the effects they have had on DnB, I don’t think IDM has fallen into that state at all.  Rather, it sort of sparked off into many directions, ambient ones, more organic, experimental ones, and especially abstract hip hop-based ones.  However, I think a lot of fans of the older sounds likely miss the years of 1998-2003, myself included, so I personally can’t wait to see CVJ bring us all back into the right musical state of mind.

A Sunny Day in Glasgow – Close Chorus

makes the sort of dream pop/shoegaze I really like, fans of School of Seven Bells and Mahogany would love Glasgow.  Interestingly enough, A Sunny Day in Glasgow isn’t originally from Glasgow, as one might assume, but rather always-sunny Philadelphia, a detail I discovered when I recognized  in one of their press photos a place called Fountain Green, part of Fairmount Park, a spot within walking distance from my crib.  Having seen SVIIB live, and wishing I could see Mahogany live, I’m looking forward to seeing what ASDIG have in store.
