Cepia - Natura Morta

Going up on the blog today, this rainy, soggy day, tunes to sip tea to and listen to the raindrops hit the roof.  First up, this amazing soundscape from Cepia.  This opening track to his 2007 release Natura Morta is vast and saturated with texture and harmony, markedly smoother, yet foreboding in preface to the rest of the album.  The artwork is beautiful to my eye, the type is laid out with exacting detail, and arranged functionally, by syllable.  Artist Kevin Smith deserves a hats-off for such a nice simple design that complements the music so well.

Next up, a beautiful exerpt from one of ambient’s most well-known acts, , from Harmony in Ultraviolet.  This song flows like light silk curtains in a night time breeze, but the oscillating melody seems to speak of something more substantial at stake.  It almost beckons the imagination to interpret its dream-like message, I would think this is a great song for meditation.

Terrestre is an artist I heard by chance a few years back on LimbikFrequencies internet radio.  He is Fernando Corona of northern Mexico, an early member of Nortec, an electronic movement taking place in Northern Mexico that parelleled IDM, peaking in 2001.  His music can be characterized as ambient IDM infused with Mexican rhythms and samples, the pace of the song has an almost latin jazz feel to it, very cool and refreshing.  His website has a few free downloads too, including this track, go check out his album Secondary Inspection for a good record.
