Foxes in Fiction, Paneye, KBD, Rameses III
It’s sunday morning as I write this, the sun shines brightly through my skylight and I’m engulfed in late morning low level ambience. I don’t know about you ambient listeners, but I have a number of ambient playlists together for sleep time, and some of these tunes make me think about early morning ambient for either lying in bed or just waking up…sort of extending the sleep phase a little longer into your waking moments.

is one musician who has been seeing a lot of increased listenership, from what I can tell, and it certainly is deserved– he released a content-packed LP called Swung From the Branches, that spans a range of styles and sounds in various phases, I haven’t heard much like it. Fans of should especially take note, as this track is merely the introductory ambient phase, followed up by a phase of hazy rock and indie pop. Definitely worth listening, if only to hear the stand-out track 15 Ativan (Song for Erika), I know we’re going to hear great things in the near future and I can’t wait!
Paneye – Octopus Pheromones – Lying Under Moribund Waves

Sydney-based Will Treffry, otherwise known as , has been posted around here before. He recently announced a new album‘s worth of material, which takes a markedly supernatural turn. I’ve always been intrigued by the knowledge that the music is inspired heavily by his exploration of the marshes, swamps and forests surrounding the suburbs of Sydney. For all of us who grew up with access to acres of land or even wilderness to explore, there’s something to relate to in these sounds, there is an underlying sense of nature, something organic that rots away and regenerates to support new life, like the bark of a fallen tree.
Kyle Bobby Dunn – Empty Gazing – A Young Person’s Guide To…

is a mainstay in my ambient playlists, but this track of his off A Young Person’s Guide To… is probably my new favorite ambient track ever. The song is free of context, I feel like it’s the best track to fall back alseep and dream to, because it holds endless possibilities for interpretation. Think about it- when you fall asleep, you might notice that your normal thoughts about the day, or what you need to do tomorrow melt away, and instead you begin to enter a dream state (REM sleep). Your mind and imagination take over when you dream, while your body recharges, and the reason I love this track is because it helps transport you to that recharge mode whether sleeping or awake.

Finally, I wish would release something soon, For José Maria is one upcoming release I’ve heard about. I think I’ll have to retire I Could Not Love You More, having listened to it so very many times. Until then, I found this collaboration on Type between The North Sea & Rameses III, called Night of the Ankou, which is comprised of two lengthy compositions and a remix from . For those of us who don’t know, Ankou is the personofication of death in the near-forgotten Celtic and Breton mythology. Heavy stuff…
