Sorry for the lack of activity this past week, it has been very busy, but very productive– I’ve got a few designs for some limited run apparel coming this summer, as well as work on upcoming releases, among other projects, which luckily I’ve been able to power through most of. In addition to it’s night starting and night finishing applicability, I think a lot of deep house makes for good work/study music, it’s driving beat and restrained vocals can naturally put your body into a rhythm without requiring too much attention with nuanced compositions, or distracting vocals. Not to say I don’t enjoy or accomplish work while listening to anything but deep house, but it’s just an observation. I’ve been mixing a decent amount, a new mix is inevitable, followers on my page get exclusive access to mixes (including one now) before they go public, so roll on over there if that interests you! Today’s image was made by Hey Studio, originally seen on my man Nitzan‘s tumblr.

So I just posted recently, as one-half of – the DJ, production, record label, and anything else besides West Virginia–he has been around for quite a while. This wicked little tune has been driving clubs across Europe wild as a white label, which prompted so many requests that it was just released. And I’ve been waiting for it for months, glad it’s finally out!

Speaking of tunes I’ve heard long before they went on sale, this incredible track by acts as the perfect transition between your 125 and 120 bpm higher energy stuff and your 110 to 115 slow jams, a ridiculously swagged out deep disco tune that oozes style and refinement, and when the vocal sample kicks in, you find yourself completely locked into the rhythm. Epic tune.

Karol XVII & MB Valence have been making waves in late ’09 and all through this year so far, they have this really vivid approach and production technique, you can pick up on many of their tracks, not unlike the above-posted Mountain People. The twerk of the percussion and momentum of synth stabs pushes things forward at a brisk pace, it’s almost formed together, but still broken down into chunks.

I found this track by in my Beatport crate last week, and had no clue where it came from or when I listened to it, how it got added to my crate. When I gave it a listen, I figured it must be some kind of memory lapse, because I likely would have added this track had I heard it– it’s got slightly dubby sounding synths in the background, which sound just the way I like them. Now if only I could remember when or where I discovered this tune…
