Alright, alright, I know I’ve been a bit neglectful around here. So this week, I promise to pump up the content, and I’ve got a lot to share. We’ll get to see my first music video project, as well as the design I mentioned last week I have been working on for Moodgadget’s releases for the 1st half of 2009.

First off, I intended to post up some Machine Drum for the last couple weeks since I was out in NYC earlier this month. Got some quality to chill with him and talk about the release of his latest album, Want to 1 2. Fans know Travis Stewart by a bunch of names, his most prominent being his hip hop side , but he also makes IDM as and Ambient as . His newest release, out on Normrex, is a highly sociable electronic romp dipping its brush in hip hop, pop and downtempo. You can grab this track for free over on XLR8R, it’s the first single off Want to 1 2 and features rhymes from Theophilus London, keep an eye out for his Freshkids single to come out soon, it’s got a Mogi Grumbles remix that you can bet your ass will be up here. Also, he’s got an album release party for all you New Yorkers, should be a blast, its on the 14th at Public Assembly, details on facebook.

While we’re on the subject, here’s his remix of Embers, the Praveen & Benoît track originally from Songs Spun Simla. Moodgadget released a remix album with some serious remixes from Daedalus, , and Shigeto (to which I created the afforementioned music video, we’ll see that later this week). This track has a very chill hip hop vibe to it, but the rest of the album’s tracks are all over the place, from jazz to IDM. Benoît is touring too, more info is probably readily available, but here’s the post Jakub made on it at ISO50.

I just heard this Samiyam track while getting deeper into the world surrounding Kode 9 and the label Hyperdub. I first heard Samiyam last year, teamed up with Flying Lotus as FLYamSAM on Ghostly Swim. This track has a very chill, yet abstract flow, definitely a compliment to Flying Lotus. What we really need is an MC with the flow to actually sound good with beats like these, the only name that’s coming up in my mind is Doom, but I feel like there are folks out there who are up to the task…let’s hear some vocal remixes of abstract hip hop!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that my buddy Ryan over at Lucidity Transport hooked me up with one of his extra MIDI controllers…it’s a very nice, easy model for me to get re-situated in the whole DJ’ing thing of years past. We’ve tried a couple duo mix sessions, and I am working on a mashup edit of Snoop Dogg and Jimpster I might post later this week, just for fun. I like this following remix of Kid Cudi because it feels like a remix I’d do, basically incorporating hip hop vocals onto a house track. The remix is by Jori Hulkkonen, it’s something I would play to the crowds out here in Philly who are too afraid of dancing to stuff they haven’t heard on the radio.  It beats the hell out of the omnipresent and instrumentals if you ask me, just let it kick in a little.
