Well, I know a did a post last week that looked at a bunch of takes on disco from around the world.  You may or may not be thrilled to learn that I am still deeply in a disco binge, taking in everything from classic wax at blogs like Beat Electric (thanks to Ben / CHARLIE! for that one), to the new stuff, which is what I’ve got to share with you guys today.

Justin Faust is a relatively new face, hailing from Germany and toting such titles as the Bavarian french house magician.  His debut Revenge EP came out at the very end of last year, and I caught wind of it before it came out with this semi-viral teaser Justin put out in the months before the EP’s release, showing off the track I have posted here, Capri Spinoff.  Since the video is still one of my favorites, and I wish I was cool enough to dance like that, I’ve posted that as well at the end.  There is something about this guy that just catches me and wont let go, I’d say its the synths.

Cyndi Seui could be considered Justin Faust’s Thai french house magician counterpart.  Hailing from Bangkok, he doesn’t have a whole lot of material out for purchase yet…at least not that I can find.  But Justin Faust and he have traded remixes, and this one, although not radically different than the original mix, is a fun listen.  I love that opening sample…

Speaking of remixes, this PNAU remix from Breakbot is worth checking out if you like this sound.  I had interestingly passed right over this when it was originally posted on Hey Kids! way back when until last week.  I don’t care if I just posted Breakbot less than a week ago, he made my top list of 2008 for his expertly crafted remixes, I need to be hearing more from him!  The original PNAU track is one of my favorite from their album, you may recognize one half of Australian dance duo PNAU in the wildly popular Empire of the Sun, whose single Walking on a Dream has probably been played to you until you’re blue in the face…well rejoice, cuz you just gotta love when the bass drops in on this track.

Finally, here’s a classic track found on The Upper Cuts, an essential release (with incredible cover art to boot) from Alan Braxe & Friends, I know you either loved this one or you hated it, but I love it, it’s got a super cheesy 80s sitcom kind of feel to it, but dammit, by the time you hear the sample “in looooove with you,” start playing, you start to think you’re listening to the Bangalter and Falcon-authored classic “.”  And before you go wondering how it would sound if one tried to mash up both songs…I tried it…it sounds okay, needs work.  In the meantime, just enjoy this one, it’s a great slowdown track for a disco/french house set.
