Peaceblaster: NOLA Let’s Make It Right Remixes
You know it’s not a rare thing to see big time well-paid musicians and artists doing high-profile ambitious cahrity projects these days, but it is a rare thing to see independent artists doing the same thing. Although I’ve never been to New Orleans, just about everyone in America has to feel a connection to those who lost everything during Hurricane Katrina. While I was up on the east coast playing football in 2.5 feet of water from the rains Katrina threw our way, thousands would lose their lives, or would be left with nothing of what little they may have had in the first place. Compounding this was the seemingly deliberate breakdown in rescue, relief and rebuilding efforts under the crushing incompetence of the Bush administration, and as of this past May in GQ, the intentional holdup caused by then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
All of that aside, the resulting outpouring of human support from every day people, coming in to help, and that continued effort in spite of enormous barriers is really inspiring. And so it inspired the guys at STS9 to do something about it. They worked with 1320 records to bring together a truly impressive lineup of remixes from their album Peaceblaster, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Make It Right Foundation and their effort to build a new house for one of those families who STILL has no place to call home. Check it out on 1320 Records, pick it up and help the cause!
