Headed out to New York City all this week and next weekend, there is already a ton going on this summer.  If anyone in the NYC area is around on Wednesday night, the Moodgadget Label Showcase is in town at Coco66.

Anyway, on to today’s post.  I spent yesterday outside in Philly for an awesome mixdown party outdoors, nestled on a triangular fountain square on East Passyunk Ave in Philly.  For those in the area looking to get a taste of some real good house and techno, it will be held every last friday each month.  Here are some new tracks I’ve been bumping with a nice 4-on-the-floor kick, each came in high regard from friends.

recently released their latest outing Yesterday And Today, and I actually had to let it grow on me.  While talking to Carl (Radere, whose ambient music we just heard from), he mentioned that it took a little time, but before long, he was in love with it.  Well, I am certainly in love with a few of these tracks at this point, Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime and the track I’m posting here, Leave It, are currently my top picks.  If you are an impatient listener, skip to about 1/3rd of the way in, but be aware that you’d be missing out on a great buildup, a mechanism like this is something we don’t often see executed well in electronic music.  Love the bassline and chime layering, and at over 11 minutes, it’s an epic journey.

I came across Sonotheque in my buddy Ryan’s (Lucid Transport) collection.  Gotta give him credit for being able to narrow thousands of songs to a choice 137 tracks, I spun this track at a Memorial Day session without having heard it…I got lucky, the transition was nice and smooth, and I found a new artist to watch.

I am a big fan of , as you’ve seen in my previous post about his music.  My friend Meghan follows his music more closely and brought his recent round of (sweeeet, although it’s only 128k..boo!) to my attention.  While I’ve heard some criticism over the formulaic quality of his compositions, I argue that it still sounds good and is fun to watch.  This track takes samples of Mary Poppins, and it’s accompanied, as with many of Pogo’s tracks, by a video mashup.  Formulaic?  Perhaps…arguably.  Gets my head nodding and makes me smile with nostalgia?  Without a doubt.
