Peche by Norik, posted on Typcut

Time for yet another generous helping of deep dancefloor music for April, the wave of material coming out this season contains tons of surprisingly satisfying new tunes.  I love it when you don’t really have to dig too deeply into the new releases to start finding tracks you like.  Today’s image is a sick design by my buddy Erik over at Typcut, always nice to see fresh work on there, even if I haven’t had the time to contribute some myself recently.

put together a really solid remix to Guest Service Shalom, a track by Roni Nachum, who if you haven’t guessed yet, is from Israel.  Jerusalem to be precise.  It’s currently only out on vinyl, but a digital is coming at the end of this month (4/26) on Fine Art Recordings, a London-based label headed up by my friend Nitzan Hermon, who you may remember hearing about through his Save Vinyl! community that encourages the revival of vinyl-only sets…for the love of the plate.  This man’s got a vision for deep music, and is clearly willing to invest in young, promising talent, as Roni is just entering his beatmaking career.

My end-all-be-all deep house guru is , this might be obvious to readers and listeners around Blog.H34, so when he charted this long-burner from John Berg, I checked it out and fell in love with the euphoric crescendos and peaks, and deep, classic bass tones.  I don’t know who John Berg is, not the easiest guy to find info on, but man I’m really loving this track, good looks to Room With A View for releasing this one!  Haven’t gotten a chance to mix with it yet, but I bet it’s a very DJ-friendly tune with lots of material to mix out of and into.

I got into Dessous Recordings last summer, when I would bump that Steve Bug remix of At Midnight, so my ears perked up when I saw this new release, Dessous Best Kept Secrets Volume 2.1.  This track by caught my interest, certainly not for that stupid sound effect at the beginning of the track, but for the unique bass-heavy keys, or whatever they are about a minute and a half into the track.  Very cool, almost tribal feeling going on, I definitely feel like I’m in the jungle when this one is playing.

Young has been hustling hard on the deep house scene since his mid teens, I guess that’s one benefit of growing up in Europe is getting exposure to clubs earlier than age 21 like here in America.  He recently released Beasts & The Birds, and this title track is really hot.  It starts of with a sort of tropical feel, but quickly melts down and mixes with disco and dub for a combination that’s hard to resist…the kicks in this track are so heavy, what’s this called, big beat, big deep, deep heat, heat beat deep, deep heat big beat?  Try reading that last sentence out loud, three times fast.
